I thought the statements tonight from Clinton and Mook, where they held off on fully buying into the ‘presumptive nominee’ blitz, were very even handed and respectful both of the entire primary process and also of the Sanders campaign. So congratulations to the Clinton campaign for being where we are right now...a place where it is at least a bit presumptuous to be screaming ‘presumptive nominee, presumptive nominee’ but also a place where the Clinton campaign are expected to wring every bit of advantage out of today’s events as they can.
But MSNBC….you know, it used to be the case that the primary purpose of the news organizations was to report the news, not try and make it. On TV, this worked very well from the early 50s until the 80s or late 80s. But with cable news channels coming into existence, things have gone down hill rather quickly. I get the feeling that Maddow and O’Donnell and various other MSNBC minions are gunning to be that person that people look back on in 30 years at some museum where they show old broadcasts of defining moments of history on TV…”look mommy, that was when Clinton first got the nomination for president...who is that lady on the screen?’
Why she is the one that told us first about Clinton’s historic win! Maddow wants to be one who makes news as well as report it.
But what are you gonna do, there is money to be made! And ain’t noboby going to tune into any TV show these days, every day, to watch any news that looks like the video below. Today we need pizzaz! And those NBC honchos and those MSNBCers — as well their FOX news counterparts, of course — need their paychecks! Ain’t nobody ever going to pay too much for something like this:
